How Censorship is Gonna Fuel Bitcoin's Rise
Just after Telegram's Founder, Pavel Durov, has been detained at his arrival in France.
At the time of writing this article, 39-year-old Franco-Russian billionaire Pavel Durov, founder of Telegram, was detained after his private jet landed at Le Bourget airport in Paris.
Pavel was arrested because of a โlack of moderation on Telegram and potential criminal activityโ, surely not because some people are against freedom of speech right..?
THIS represents a disturbing attack on free speech and a threat to any online platform. Governments should not engage in censorship.
Dozens of events against free speech are happening at the moment - but what effect does all of those events have on Bitcoin?
Why Global Censorship Is Accelerating Bitcoinโs Adoption
Global censorship is pushing more people toward Bitcoin as a secure, censorship-resistant option for preserving privacy and financial independence.
๐ซ๐ท France detains the founder of Telegram. ๐ฌ๐ง The United Kingdom arrests citizens for 'disinformation'. ๐ฎ๐ช Ireland bans 'malicious' memes. ๐ง๐ท Brazil forces ๐ to leave the country. ๐ฆ๐บ Australia censors posts on ๐. ๐ช๐บ The EU clashes with Elon Musk for not 'cooperating'. ๐บ๐ธ In the USA, book censorship increases by 65%. ๐ป๐ช Maduro targets ๐, TikTok, and WhatsApp. ๐จ๐ฆ Canada proposes laws against digital humor. ๐ฉ๐ช Germany fines for sharing political memes. ๐ช๐ธ Spain proposes a law against 'disinformation'. ๐ฎ๐น Italy censors critical memes. ๐ฏ๐ต Japan sanctions meme creators. ๐ท๐บ Russia censors all social media. ๐ฒ๐ฝ Mexico criminalizes offensive memes. ๐ฎ๐ณ India blocks satirical platforms. ๐ธ๐ฌ Singapore approves prison for viral memes. ๐ฟ๐ฆ South Africa controls online freedom. ๐ณ๐ฟ New Zealand shuts down websites for 'disinformation'. ๐ธ๐ฆ Saudi Arabia arrests for offensive memes. ๐น๐ท Turkey detains for sharing satirical tweets. ๐จ๐ณ China censors in general. ๐ฆ๐ท Argentina imposes severe penalties for subversive memes. ๐ช๐จ Ecuador blocks digital platforms. ๐ต๐ญ The Philippines regulates humor on the internet. ๐ธ๐พ Syria suppresses online freedom. ๐จ๐ด Colombia pursues critics over memes. ๐ญ๐ฐ Hong Kong censors political content. ๐ณ๐ฌ Nigeria approves jail for 'disturbing' content. ๐ฎ๐ฉ Indonesia bans critical memes. ๐ช๐ฌ Egypt arrests digital activists. ๐ต๐ฐ Pakistan criminalizes online satire. ๐ฒ๐พ Malaysia controls the spread of memes. ๐ท๐ด Romania sanctions for critical content.
Events like this fuel Bitcoin adoption; as global censorship rises, Bitcoin gains more attention as a censorship-resistant, decentralized money system. A rising demand would then probably make the price of Bitcoin increase as those events become more and more frequent.
What is next?
In the end, governments will try to censor, ban, and eliminate Bitcoin as its power grows. But, sadly for them, Bitcoin is impossible to eliminate.
