How Censorship is Gonna Fuel Bitcoin's Rise
Just after Telegram's Founder, Pavel Durov, has been detained at his arrival in France.
At the time of writing this article, 39-year-old Franco-Russian billionaire Pavel Durov, founder of Telegram, was detained after his private jet landed at Le Bourget airport in Paris.
Pavel was arrested because of a “lack of moderation on Telegram and potential criminal activity”, surely not because some people are against freedom of speech right..?
THIS represents a disturbing attack on free speech and a threat to any online platform. Governments should not engage in censorship.
Dozens of events against free speech are happening at the moment - but what effect does all of those events have on Bitcoin?
Why Global Censorship Is Accelerating Bitcoin’s Adoption
Global censorship is pushing more people toward Bitcoin as a secure, censorship-resistant option for preserving privacy and financial independence.
🇫🇷 France detains the founder of Telegram. 🇬🇧 The United Kingdom arrests citizens for 'disinformation'. 🇮🇪 Ireland bans 'malicious' memes. 🇧🇷 Brazil forces 𝕏 to leave the country. 🇦🇺 Australia censors posts on 𝕏. 🇪🇺 The EU clashes with Elon Musk for not 'cooperating'. 🇺🇸 In the USA, book censorship increases by 65%. 🇻🇪 Maduro targets 𝕏, TikTok, and WhatsApp. 🇨🇦 Canada proposes laws against digital humor. 🇩🇪 Germany fines for sharing political memes. 🇪🇸 Spain proposes a law against 'disinformation'. 🇮🇹 Italy censors critical memes. 🇯🇵 Japan sanctions meme creators. 🇷🇺 Russia censors all social media. 🇲🇽 Mexico criminalizes offensive memes. 🇮🇳 India blocks satirical platforms. 🇸🇬 Singapore approves prison for viral memes. 🇿🇦 South Africa controls online freedom. 🇳🇿 New Zealand shuts down websites for 'disinformation'. 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia arrests for offensive memes. 🇹🇷 Turkey detains for sharing satirical tweets. 🇨🇳 China censors in general. 🇦🇷 Argentina imposes severe penalties for subversive memes. 🇪🇨 Ecuador blocks digital platforms. 🇵🇭 The Philippines regulates humor on the internet. 🇸🇾 Syria suppresses online freedom. 🇨🇴 Colombia pursues critics over memes. 🇭🇰 Hong Kong censors political content. 🇳🇬 Nigeria approves jail for 'disturbing' content. 🇮🇩 Indonesia bans critical memes. 🇪🇬 Egypt arrests digital activists. 🇵🇰 Pakistan criminalizes online satire. 🇲🇾 Malaysia controls the spread of memes. 🇷🇴 Romania sanctions for critical content.
Events like this fuel Bitcoin adoption; as global censorship rises, Bitcoin gains more attention as a censorship-resistant, decentralized money system. A rising demand would then probably make the price of Bitcoin increase as those events become more and more frequent.
What is next?
In the end, governments will try to censor, ban, and eliminate Bitcoin as its power grows. But, sadly for them, Bitcoin is impossible to eliminate.
